What kinds of issues do you treat?

I work with people who are healing from a physical injury or an emotionally traumatic event, or simply be worn down by life’s challenges.

I treat people with a range of physical problems. I work with chronic pain, stress-related tension and acute injuries. These can manifest as conditions such as carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, hip pain, back pain, neck pain, headaches, insomnia and reduced range of motion in various joints, and much more.

Why do you offer so many techniques?

Techniques such as Muscular Therapy benefit healthy, chronically ill or injured people. Massage Therapy can increase circulation which provides oxygen and nutrients into vital organs and tissues of the body. Deeper, more physical work can relieve the fascial layers of the body from adhesions created through stress and injury.

Massage releases endorphins, which are natural painkillers. It stimulates the lymph system, one of the body’s natural defense against toxins. Passive stretching and rhythmic movement can improve range of motion in shortened and atrophied muscles.

More passive or vibrational work, such as Samvahan and Sound Therapy can have more neurological effects on the body, in effect “tricking” the nerves into perceiving less pain, and helping to stop the cycle of the chronic pain stimulation.

While all these great things are happening within your body, your mind and your spirit are also lifted.

What are the benefits?

Besides being an excellent way to treat yourself to a relaxing experience, massage and bodywork have many more benefits, including:

  • Decreasing stress and depression

  • Relieving acute and chronic pain

  • Reducing blood pressure

  • Infant growth

  • Healing sports-related injuries

  • Increasing immune strength

  • Alleviating headaches

  • Improving flexibility and range of motion

What should I expect at a session?

Before each session, I will assess the primary goal for our session, based on where and how your pain is manifesting. We will decide together which modality might work best for you.

I will ensure that you feel comfortable, encourage you to communicate about anything that needs to be addressed or altered during your session, and discuss the discuss the efficacy of your session and how you are feeling during and after your session.
